Motor City Makeover

Our contribution to the Motor City Makeover began May 7, and was a grand experience for us. There are still two more Saturdays to get involved- May 14, and May 21. We deployed to the Midtown/Cass Corridor area with excitment and cleaned all day, taking time out for a great meeting and lunch with an honest guy named John and his wonderful staff of smiling girls and guys, who appreciated our cleaning of the lots around his bar, Honest?John's. We moved up Second, and around to Cass via Forest, Prentis, Canfield, Willis and Selden, got some sun, and met some great local people along the way.
Not only did we see the trash and debris left by neglect, we also saw beauty on almost every street. We will continue to check on this area and celebrate its culture. If anyone wants to join DetroitBazaar in the next two weeks in our effort to clean up and have some fun, email us at detroitbazaar@yahoo.com. We also look forward to going beyond the month of May in our quest to revitalize a great city.

I, for one, am glad to see a revival of interest in this once great city. Thank you for your hard work-- please don't get discouraged by the enormity of your task!
