May is Motor City Makeover month!

The city of Detroit is looking for volunteers for it's community cleanup and beautification effort. Volunteers will be asked to work 1, or if possible 3 Saturdays during the month of May. The dates are May 7, 14, and 21. Duties would include, but not limited to...bagging up trash from vacant lots, parks and entry points into the city, sweeping, raking leaves, cleaning and planting flowers. Local residents are also being asked to rake their yards, clean/sweep off porches, pick up trash in surrounding neighborhoods and plant flowers. Gloves and litter bags will be available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m at neighborhood city halls on all 3 above listed Saturdays.

Residents are also being asked to report areas of blight to the nearest neighborhood city hall and report any abandoned vehicles to your nearest police precinct.

For additional information or to get involved, please call the Volunteer Office Number at (313) 224-4415 or click on the above link to sign up!

DetroitBazaar proudly supports this effort and will be doing their part to help Detroit shine and we hope that others will join in and make this a worthwhile effort as well! And hey, why only May? We should all take time out every month to help keep the city clean and vibrant.

Peace and best wishes for the city of Detroit!

Let's make this more than a spring time event and take it into our own hands to clean, beautify, and benefit our great city.
