What's Going on With the Old Ballpark?
While it sits there and politicians try to work out deals with Walmart, Ray Sayah from Channel 7 WXYZ, had an interesting report this week. In it he mentioned a man willing to pay for the upkeep the city can't seem to handle and certainly can't afford- For half the price!
From the story linked in the title of this post:
"If you think that's bad, it gets worse: 7 Action News has learned at least two people have approached the city of Detroit with what sound like great ideas for Tiger Stadium.
"Give us a year and see what we can do," says Bob Schultz of Landscape Images.
Schultz went to the city with a proposal saying he would maintain Tiger Stadium for $200,000 a year. That's half of the $400,000 the city was paying.
"We have the ability, that's what we do," says Schultz."
Who's running the camera anyway?
DetroitBazaar applauds and supports people like Bob. While it probably isn't realistic to think the old ballpark will ever come alive as it stands, let's make certain responsible development and responsible people are in charge of The Corner's future.
Peace from Will and Shawn, DetroitBazaar, LLC!
